Open to the public since 2023, The Garden at St. Timothy’s is a community garden located next door to the church at 450 Jackson Street. Whether you’re interested in learning how to garden, sharpening your gardening skills, renting a garden plot, volunteering, meeting other gardeners or sitting quietly in the peaceful garden space, there’s something for everyone at The Garden at St. Timothy’s.

The garden is open 24/7, and plots are available for rent at 50 cents per square foot:

  • 30 sq. ft. $15 per year
  • 40 sq. ft. $20 per year
  • 50 sq. ft. $25 per year

water is included, with irrigation on a timer.

Garden meetings are held once each month, usually on the third Saturday of the month at 10:00 am. You don’t need to have a garden plot to attend meetings, volunteer or spend time in the garden. All are welcome!

Drop in the Bucket Composting

Composting – Bring your egg shells, coffee grounds, fruit and veggie scraps and peels to The Garden at St. Timothy’s, and we will turn them into amazing compost! Sign up today for Drop in the Bucket composting, and we will provide a new 5-gallon bucket with a snug lid to keep your scraps odor-free until you drop them off. There is a drop-off can conveniently located in the alley behind the Garden, and you are welcome to share the finished compost, free of charge. Our compost is full of natural microbes…excellent for the health of your soil and plants…plus you are helping to keep food waste out of the landfill. With your help in 2025, we diverted 3,719 pounds of community organic waste from the landfill!

Preserving Food with Friends

On the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 am

Preserving Food with Friends offers a free, hands-on class at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church covering different aspects of scientifically-based home food preservation: jams and jellies, fermentation, sauces, dehydration, pie fillings, pickling and high acid vs. low acid foods. Each class takes participants through a hands-on project from start to finish and covers the practices necessary for safe home food preservation: how to prepare, preserve and store food safely, canning equipment and how to use it, the science behind safe food preservation, and where to find research-based recipes. Best of all, classes are fun! Find us on Facebook for full details on how to sign up.

Our mission statement:

Our program goals are to freely share and teach research-based information about sustainable gardening and safe food preservation, to increase food security and decrease food waste, and to build a supportive community of neighbors helping neighbors.
